SIGNS OF CHANGE BUT THE FIGHT IS NOT OVERThere are signs that Canada’s horse slaughter industry is shifting—and not a moment too soon. But while one door may be closing, others remain wide open. Here's what we know right now: 1. Bouvry’s (Horse) Slaughter Plant in...
THANK YOU NAYSAYERS
TO OUR CRITICS: THANK YOU FOR THE FREE BOOST
We’d like to take a moment to sincerely thank a special group of people:
The naysayers. The scoffers.
Every time you take the time to leave a snide, dismissive, or downright angry comment on one of our social media posts—you do us a favour.
You might think you’re silencing us.
You might think you’re protecting your beloved racing or slaughter industry.
You might even think you’ve “won” because you left a comment shouting “this is fake news!” or “you don’t know what you’re talking about!”
But here’s the truth: you’re helping us reach more people.
Social media algorithms love engagement.
They don’t care if the comments are positive, negative, or from someone who can’t spell.
Every single comment you make pushes our post higher in the feed.
Your comments help get our posts shown to more people.
Your comments help our posts find their way into more newsfeeds.
Your comments are helping start more conversations.
So when you react with outrage, denial, or mockery—you’re handing us reach on a silver platter.
And better still?
That reach that you’ve helped us gain – brings in support.
It brings in donations.
It brings in people who do care, who do ask questions, and those who don’t look away when the truth makes them uncomfortable.
So from the bottom of our hearts:
Thank you for helping us spread the truth.
Thank you for boosting the stories of the horses you’d rather ignore.
And thank you for being a shining example of exactly what’s wrong with the culture we’re trying to change.
Keep those comments coming.
We’ll keep telling the truth.
And the algorithm will keep doing the rest.
With appreciation,
The team at Ban Horse Slaughter

HORSES SLAUGHTERED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
Every year thousands of horses are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption, but you can help us ban horse slaughter in Canada and beyond.
Some of the meat is consumed in Canada, and much of it is shipped to the European Union, and other markets, including Japan.
This barbaric practice is currently not legal in the United States, so horses from the United States are shipped to Canada, and to Mexico, to be slaughtered.
In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air to Japan for slaughter, is far from humane.
