STEPHANIE REDLICK CRIMINAL COURT APPEARANCES

STEPHANIE REDLICK CRIMINAL COURT APPEARANCES

STEPHANIE REDLICK APPEARED IN 2 CRIMINAL COURTS TODAY

For over a year, Stephanie Redlick — also known as Stephanie Alessia AKA Stephanie Kauffman — has publicly claimed she has a ‘hot shot legal team’ preparing legal action against those who speak out about the criminal charges that Redlick is facing.

Today, March 5, 2026 Redlick appeared in 2 criminal courts on 2 sets of criminal charges – in 2 jurisdictions – and in both courts her representation was paid for by legal aid.

We know, you’re thinking “But she claimed in a recent 15 minute video interview wth Rebel News that she had NOT applied for legal aid”.

Court filings speak louder than her smear campaigns against those who speak out about her.

BARRIE/MIDLAND CRIMINAL COURT APPEARANCE

Redlick appeared virtually in Criminal Court in Barrie/Midland on allegations she stole more than $60,000 from an 80-year-old man.

As previously reported by CTV News, she is facing charges of fraud exceeding $26,000, theft over $5,000, making forged documents, and obtaining property by false pretences involving cattle valued at more than $5,000.

So, what happened today?

Redlick appeared virtually in the Barrie/Midland courtroom for a brief procedural appearance.

There were no dramatic moments and no final decisions made.

The Crown pre-trial had already taken place on February 11, and she has now elected to be tried by a judge – not a jury – in the Ontario Court of Justice.

The next court date is set for March 12 at 8:30 a.m., in the same courtroom.

That date is not the trial itself. It will likely be a short status appearance where the court checks that everything is moving forward properly and, if ready, begins setting actual trial dates.

BRADFORD CRIMINAL COURT APPEARANCE

Redlick was also represented by the same (legal aid) counsel when she appeared in Bradford Criminal Court today on a separate set of criminal charges.

In that matter, according to CTV NEWS Stephanie Redlick is charged with uttering a forged document, fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and forgery, after allegedly using an altered cheque to defraud a Cookstown livestock auction house of more than $15,000 in March 2025.

So, what happened today?

It was a brief procedural appearance. There were no decisions made and no trial dates set.

A pre-trial is scheduled for March 10, 2026, and Redlick is set to return to the same courtroom on March 12, 2026, likely for a short update as the matter moves forward.

REDLICK IS ALSO FACING 13 ANIMAL WELFARE CHARGES

Just in case you are new to this ‘situation’ we think it is also important to note that Redlick is also currently facing 13 unrelated Animal Welfare Services (AWS)  charges under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act – in 2 jurisdictions.  Details here.

HORSES SLAUGHTERED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

Every year thousands of horses are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption, but you can help us ban horse slaughter in Canada and beyond.

Some of the meat is consumed in Canada, and much of it is shipped to the European Union, and other markets, including Japan.

This barbaric practice is currently not legal in the United States, so horses from the United States are shipped to Canada, and to Mexico, to be slaughtered.

In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air to Japan for slaughter, is far from humane.

STEPHANIE REDLICK IN CRIMINAL COURT

STEPHANIE REDLICK IN CRIMINAL COURT

STEPHANIE REDLICK AKA STEPHANIE ALESSIA –  NO SHOW IN CRIMINAL COURT TODAY

For over a year, Stephanie Redlick — also known as Stephanie Alessia — has publicly claimed she has a ‘hot shot legal team’ preparing legal action against those who speak out.

Today, in criminal court on charges involving the alleged theft of over $60,000 from an 80-year-old man, the record showed Stephanie Redlick was represented by Legal Aid duty counsel.

We know, you’re thinking “But she claimed in a recent 15 minute video interview wth Rebel News that she had NOT applied for legal aid”.

Court filings speak louder than smear campaigns.

REDLICK SEEMS TO THINK THE RULES DON’T APPLY TO HER

The judge declined to send the matter to trial scheduling and instead set a return date of March 5th, requiring Ms. Redlick to attend — either in person or by video — or the bench warrant would be released and she would be arrested.

And importantly, for the first time in now over 10 appearances on these charges, the same judge is scheduled to preside again on the next date.

Until now, there has been little judicial continuity. Nearly every appearance has involved a different judge.

On March 5th, that changes.

COURT TRANSCRIPT

9:30 a.m. Docket – Midland Courtroom #2

Court: Is Stephanie Redlick present in the body of the court or on the video screen?

It appears the matter went over on the last date with a bench warrant with discretion.

Is counsel retained to assist Ms. Redlick?

Defence: Yes, Your Honour. The matter is ready to be placed into trial scheduling court.
Has the matter had a judicial pretrial?

Defence: I have not been instructed on that. I was told that if we could place the matter into trial scheduling court and request an adjournment to Thursday, March 5th, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. to set a trial date and place it on the record.

Court: It appears there has not been a Crown pretrial. A CPT would be needed before setting trial dates.

Madam Clerk, is there an election?

Clerk: The Crown has elected by indictment. The defence has not made their formal election yet.
Court: Are you in a position to make a formal election and file a notice of election? That would include whether you want a preliminary inquiry, an Ontario Court of Justice trial, a jury trial, or a Superior Court judge-alone trial.

Defence: I am not in a position to do so. I can make a note and advise counsel.

Court: We would not put the matter into scheduling court for the Ontario Court of Justice if you intended to proceed in Superior Court — unless you wanted a preliminary inquiry first. By this stage, you should know what mode of trial you want.

Court (to Crown): Has there been a Crown pretrial?

Crown: No, Your Honour.

Court: I see no indication that a judicial pretrial has been set. A judicial pretrial may be necessary, especially if the matter is heading toward a preliminary inquiry. It does not appear counsel has turned their minds to that issue — or if they have, they have not advised the court.

This is the matter of Stephanie Redlick.

Why don’t we bring it back on March 5th?

I will extend the bench warrant to March 5th, 2026.

I will be here that day, and I am requiring Ms. Stephanie Redlick to either attend in person or appear by video. If she does not attend, I will release the bench warrant and she will be arrested.

She must attend on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, in Midland Courtroom #2 at 9:30 a.m.

We need to know next week what mode of trial is being elected. I will not burden trial scheduling court at this time. It is not ready.

Defence: In the interim, counsel will reach out to resolution Crown to arrange a Crown pretrial and obtain trial estimates.

Court: Duly noted.

16 HORSES IN DEPLORABLE CONDITION SEIZED

In February 2025, Animal Welfare Services seized 16 horses owned by Stephanie Redlick (also known as Stephanie Alessia) from a property in Port Perry, Ontario.

The documented condition of those horses was severe: emaciation, inadequate winter shelter, frozen water, animals standing in heavy manure, open sores — and one horse so compromised he had to be humanely euthanized.

An Animal Welfare Services tribunal ruled the horses would not be returned to her care. She was billed more than $116,000 for their recovery before they became property of the Crown.

In a recent press interview Redlick publicly stated she has no intentions of paying that bill.

As reported by CTV NEWS, Redlick is currently facing multiple criminal charges for theft and fraud in two jurisdictions.

CRIMINAL CHARGES LAID FOR THEFT & FRAUD

ONLY PROVINCIAL CHARGES LAID…

But for the condition of the 16 horses, no Criminal Code charges were laid.

Instead, 13 charges were laid under provincial animal welfare legislation.

The Criminal Code addresses serious neglect and unnecessary suffering.

The documented state of these horses warranted criminal review then — and it still does.

Criminal charges can still be laid.

Use the form below to ask Crown counsel to apply the Criminal Code.

THE LETTER IN THE FORM READS…

Subject: Request for Criminal Code Review – Port Perry / Oro-Medonte Horse Seizures

To Whom It May Concern,

I am requesting that this matter be reviewed for charges under sections 445.1(1)(a) and 446(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada in relation to the February 2025 seizure of 16 horses associated with Stephanie Redlick.

Animal Welfare Services seized the horses from a property in Port Perry. However, AWS charges were subsequently laid in both Port Perry and Oro-Medonte jurisdictions.

One horse was in such poor condition that he had to be humanely euthanized.

Documented findings describe horses without adequate shelter in winter conditions, water buckets frozen solid, animals described as emaciated, standing in significant accumulation of manure, picking through their own waste, and suffering from open sores. A tribunal later determined that Ms. Redlick would not have the horses returned to her care.

Section 446(1)(b) of the Criminal Code makes it an offence to fail to provide suitable and adequate food, water, shelter and care.

Section 445.1(1)(a) makes it an offence to wilfully cause, or as an owner permit, unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal.

The legal threshold is not intent to kill, but whether the suffering was foreseeable and preventable.

Where animals are documented as emaciated, exposed to winter conditions without adequate shelter or water, and living in unsanitary and injurious conditions — and where one animal’s condition deteriorates to the point of euthanasia — the circumstances warrant assessment under the Criminal Code rather than regulatory enforcement alone.

I respectfully request confirmation that this matter has been reviewed for Criminal Code prosecution and referred to police and Crown counsel for assessment under sections 445.1 and 446.

Sincerely,

CHARGED WITH NEGLECT YET REDLICK CAN STILL OWN HORSES?

CHARGED WITH NEGLECT YET REDLICK CAN STILL OWN HORSES?

SEIZURE DOES NOT MEAN A BAN ON HORSE OWNERSHIP

Temporary, court-reviewable restrictions on animal ownership until charges are resolved would align animal welfare with protections already accepted in other areas of law.

SERIOUS LOOPHOLE

Sixteen horses were seized from Stephanie Redlick.  (AKA Stephanie Alessia.)

One was so badly neglected he had to be euthanized.

The surviving 15 horses will NOT be returned to her, and taxpayers are left with a bill exceeding $116,000.

Redlick is facing 13 charges under the Animal Welfare Services Act for the alleged mistreatment and abuse of animals.

And yet, under Ontario’s current system, she remains legally able to have horses. AND she is accumulating horses again.

This shocking reality is why this letter-writing campaign exists — to demand changes that actually prevent repeat neglect, not just respond after the damage is done.

In many areas of law, temporary safeguards are routinely put in place once serious charges are laid, not as punishment, but as a precaution.

These measures exist to prevent further harm while the courts determine guilt or innocence. They recognize a simple reality: waiting until after a trial can mean irreversible damage.

For example, individuals charged with violent offences may be prohibited from contacting alleged victims, firearm owners can have weapons seized, professionals may be suspended from practice, drivers can lose licences, and parents may face supervised access — all before a trial concludes.

These are not declarations of guilt; they are risk-management tools designed to protect the public or vulnerable parties during legal proceedings.

Animal welfare should be no different.

When someone faces serious animal neglect charges — especially following large-scale seizures or fatalities — allowing unrestricted ownership or custody of animals during that period creates a foreseeable risk.

Again, temporary, court-reviewable restrictions on animal ownership until charges are resolved would align animal welfare with protections already accepted in other areas of law.

Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act does not currently provide this kind of interim protection. While inspectors can seize animals already in distress and courts may impose prohibitions after a conviction, there is no mechanism that automatically restricts animal ownership or acquisition once serious charges are laid. As a result, enforcement remains reactive rather than preventative — stepping in only after harm has occurred again.

Recipients: Premier's Office, Solicitor General, Chief Animal Welfare Inspector, and your local MPP (auto).

What law needs to change?

  • Automatic "no-own / no-custody" restrictions for repeat or severe neglect cases, especially after a large seizure.
  • Real restrictions while charges are before the court so animals cannot be quietly moved to avoid oversight.
  • Mandatory veterinary orders when an animal is reported injured or in distress.
  • Cost-recovery accountability: if someone owes the province major care costs after seizure, that must trigger restrictions on future ownership/custody.

Bottom line: seizure without enforceable ownership restrictions is not prevention - it's a revolving door.

THE LETTER IN THE FORM READS…

Subject: Close Ontario’s Animal Welfare Loophole: Prevent Repeat Harm

Dear Premier Ford and Minister Kerzner,

I am writing to urge immediate reform to close a dangerous loophole in Ontario’s animal welfare system.

When an individual has had 16 horses seized, one was euthanized due to condition, the animals are not being returned, and taxpayers are owed over $116,000 for care, there must be enforceable restrictions preventing future ownership or custody of horses.

Seizure without ownership restrictions is not prevention. It allows repeat harm and repeats taxpayer expense. Similar temporary safeguards already exist in other areas of law to prevent further harm while charges are before the courts.

I am asking your government to implement reforms so that repeat or severe cases trigger meaningful bans or restrictions on animal ownership, along with timely veterinary orders when animals are reported injured or in distress.

THE ONE WHERE REDLICK ASKS CRYSTAL MITCHELL FOR HELP

THE ONE WHERE REDLICK ASKS CRYSTAL MITCHELL FOR HELP

 FEARLESS WHEN OTHERS BACKED DOWN

Stephanie Redlick, a name we heard for the first time, one year ago today.

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ABOUT REDLICK’S ABANDONED FOAL WHO DIED – YOU’LL FIND THAT HERE.

Public smearing is a well-used tactic of Redlick’s — one that has previously caused people to retreat and disengage.

In this case, it did not work.

After offering help and having that help accepted, Crystal Mitchell became the target of an aggressive and coordinated smear campaign across numerous Facebook profiles and groups.

The intent was clear: to intimidate, discredit, and force silence.

Crystal Mitchell is fearless – she did not back down.

What makes this episode particularly striking is that several of the allegations Redlick circulated publicly about Crystal are exactly the charges Redlick herself is facing in criminal court.

Redlick’s smear campaign tactic may have worked to silence others. It did not – and is not working this time.

 CAN YOU IMAGINE CRYSTAL’S SHOCK?

Crystal Mitchell had her first conversation with Stephanie Redlick on February 3rd, 2025.

Crystal, her husband Jason, Crystal’s daughter Summer and a friend Celia visited the property Stephanie Redlick was leasing in Oro-Medonte, Ontario over the course of a few days.

This was after Jim Horne tipped them off about the horrific condition of horses, frozen water buckets, lack of shelter for most of the 20 horses, and how the few stalls were piled high with manure.

What ever hay there was, was mouldy which can be deadly for horses and strings were still attached (also can be deadly for horses).

Crystal offered help to Redlick – and Stephanie eagerly accepted that help – admitting that she was in over her head.

And although in a January 2026 Rebel News interview Redlick claimed that Crystal asked Redlick for helpscreen shots of texts show a story that is the polar opposite of what Redlick so boldly stated to Rebel News.

IT TURNED OUT THERE WERE 20 HORSES INCUDING A PREGNANT MARE

SCREEN SHOTS OF REDLICK’S TEXTS TELL THE TALE

When asked how many horses she had, Stephanie Redlick’s response:

It turned out she had 20 horses – after the foal died.  Oh, and keep going, there are a LOT more screen shots below…

“Except the good ones we’d need money for. Ranging from 15-80K.”
– Stephanie Redlick

AN EXAMPLE OF ‘THE GOOD ONES’

Again, we say, you be the judge.

Does this look like a healthy horse who is receiving quality care?

Please note the water buckets are blocks of ice, the “bedding” is a foot or more of manure, this poor mare is skin and bones and has sores.

Redlick stated she was going to get $13,000 for her.  Yes, really.

Redlick is currently advertising that she provides first class board – of course the pictures she’s showing are of are a barn she was evicted from and one that is not in Milton as she is advertising – it is 100 kiometers from Milton.

But we ask you again, does this look like quality care?

BACK TO THE SCREEN SHOTS…
REDLICK IN BLACK & CRYSTAL IS GREEN

REDLICK ASKS CRYSTAL FOR 20 BALES OF HAY

Okay so let’s break that down, that is Stephanie Redlick asking Crystal Mitchell if Crystal has any hay.  She is not offering to buy hay, she is expecting FREE hay.

Crystal asks how many bales and Redlick asks for 20 bales.

Again, PLEASE NOTE Crystal Mitchell GIFTS Stephanie Redlick those 20 bales.

Stephanie Redlick also asks if Crystal’s family can help dispose of the dead foal’s body.

Redlick ultimately dragged it to the edge of the property because she didn’t have the money to call a ‘body disposal’ company.

Oh, and Redlick is ‘greatful’.

Wait a minute.  She ‘started’ to rescue at the wrong time?

But Redlick you told Michael Owen of Orillia Matters on May 22nd, 2025 that you’d rescued 150 horses.

Then in January of 2026 you told David Menzies of Rebel News that you’d rescued 1,500 horses.

Yet you started at the wrong time – in February of 2025?

Something sounds a bit fishy.

CRYSTAL GIFTS REDLICK 20 BALES OF HAY

Redlick calls Crystal her hero.

Stephanie Redlick refers to Crystal’s daughter Summer as “a cool chick”.  (And on that point she is exactly right.  Summer most certainly is “a cool chick”).

Crystal is going home after working all day to load bales of hay to gift to Stephanie Redlick and Redlick is so stressed her head is exploding.

REDLICK DOESN’T EVEN HELP UNLOAD THE HAY

Redlick claims she did all her chores but also states her stalls are ‘bad’ and asks Crystal not to judge.

BAD?  That’s an understatment.

Horses standing on a foot or more of built up manure – we don’t have the words. Water buckets are frozen solid. But Redlick did ALL her chores?

Crystal is bringing a gift of hay – Redlick won’t be there to help unload it and Redlick wants it put in the barn.  Yes, REALLY!

Do we believe any excuses Redlick makes?  NOPE.

REDLICK RELINQUISHES 4 HORSES TO CRYSTAL

Jason, Summer and Celia were horrified by what they saw on the property and ultimately Crystal dragged the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to the property, who were also horrified. The officers took pictures and video and immediately phoned Animal Welfare Services (AWS).

We didn’t know it at the time but AWS inspectors were at the property in  December of 2024 and wrote orders – so Redlick was known to them.

AWS WROTE ORDERS IN DECEMBER 2024

Redlick v. Chief Animal Welfare Inspector, 2025 ONACRB 168 (Motion Decision released July 25, 2025) Paragraph 18 Exact text (copied word-for-word) “The AWS inspector’s allegations regarding ‘non-compliance’ (December 30, 2024)…
Speaker / source: The Appellant’s counsel (Redlick’s lawyer)

So what are orders? Well, in this case someone delivering horses Redlick bought via an online auction (late in 2024) to a property Redlick was leasing in Oro-Medonte was so horrified by the conditions of the property — and the horses who were already there –that he called the Ontario Provincial Police — who were then forced to involve Animal Welfare Services (AWS).

Animal Welfare Services Inspectors would have visited the property and written ‘orders’ – orders are based on a very low threshold or ‘benchmark’ of what is considered adequate care.

Redlick would have likely been given over a week to comply — or at least prove that she was making progress towards complying.

AWS is known for not being transparent – and that’s a fight that we are prepared to pick up too.

AGAIN, WE KNOW THIS WAS NOT REDLICK’S FIRST RODEO

For the horses to be in such deplorable condition the first of February – AWS definitely dropped the ball.

Again, Crystal and her family and friend were there the first week of February 2025 and AWS was in contact with Redlick as late as December 30th, 2024.

Before Animal Welfare Services showed up in February Crystal managed to convince Stephanie to relinquish 4 horses who were in the most desperate need of medical attention – one of whom was so far gone that an equine veterinarian, a specialist, warned from moment one that he was likely not to survive.

Despite thousands in vet bills and a heroic effort by Crystal and her family, Seattle Sunrise ultimately had to be humanely euthanized.

Crystal, her family and 3 friends all had their names dragged through the mud by Stephanie Redlick – incredibly outlandish claims were made and continue to be made by Redlick about Crystal and others.

REDLICK’S SO CALLED CONTRACT

Remember the contract Redlick bragged to Rebel News she had with Crystal?  The video is here and below you’ll find the so called contract.

Oh, and Redlick has also repeatedly claimed that Crystal stole her horses.  Of course the screen shots and so called contract say differently…

Stephanie Redlick is the one with multiple criminal charges for theft and fraud and 13 animal welfare charges.

This situation highlights both the cruelty some humans are capable of and the compassion of those who choose to step up, take action and show kindness.

Thank you Crystal for being you and for all that you do for so many!

OH AND REDLICK – PLEASE DON’T WORRY…

When we say we’ve been sitting on the screen shots for a year – we mean that we haven’t shared them publicly till now but Animal Welfare Services has had them the whole time.

SO NOTORIOUS AN AUCTIONEER REJECTS THEIR BIDS

SO NOTORIOUS AN AUCTIONEER REJECTS THEIR BIDS

A CAUTIONARY ‘TAIL’

On Sunday night, January 25, 2026, I received a Facebook private message.

To be clear, I already knew the advertisement was circulating. But I never mind getting information like that more than once — it’s always better to know than not know, and repetition often confirms patterns.

The message was about a boarding ad being run under the name Stephanie Alessia which of course is one of the many aliases used by the notorious Stephanie Redlick.  The ad was/is offering full board at a barn supposedly located in Milton, Ontario.

The problem was obvious immediately.

The photos being used were of a property in Norwich, Ontario — a barn Stephanie Redlick had been evicted from earlier that same week.

Norwich and Milton are more than 100 kilometres apart, in completely different communities. The ad did not reflect reality.

That, unfortunately, is not a new ploy of Redlick’s.

THE SCAM ARTIST IS STILL AT IT…

BUT…

What caught my attention was not the boarding offer itself, but the direction of the questions that followed from the person who shared it.

The person messaging me seemed far more interested in two horses that the Redlicks had recently abandoned — where they were, whether Stephanie Redlick would be getting them back, and what was happening with them.

And even when I gave her some information and promised there would be a public post soon, she was persistent.

She wasn’t alone in asking but there was just something in the way she asked – over the course of a few conversations… over  a couple of days.

I responded carefully and truthfully.

Yes, I knew exactly where the horses were.

Yes, they were safe.

And yes, more information would be shared when appropriate.

As the week went on, something about the tone of the messages from the same ‘account’ began to feel off.

The Facebook profile appeared real.

The concern sounded plausible. But the questions circled the same points repeatedly — there was just something that left me feeling uneasy.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE REACHED OUT

At the same time, I was receiving messages from others:

“Stephanie Redick was just here asking about board.”

“She called me about a horse I have for sale.”

“She told me she’s a rescue… a breeder… that she owns a hundred-million-dollar thoroughbred.

[Yes, really!  Just how stupid does Redlick think people are?]

A steady trickle — a few messages a day.

But this particular conversation that started on Sunday evening stood out.

By Thursday, the messages and calls from others began to slow noticeably.

That same day, Stephanie Redlick was scheduled to appear in criminal court — and she did not show up.

A discretionary bench warrant was issued.

Despite Redlick’s repeated claims — including those made during a 15-minute on-camera interview with Rebel Newsthere was no publication ban on those proceedings.

In that interview, Redlick attempted to explain only a portion of what she is accused of, while David Menzies read out just some of the charges on the record: animal neglect, causing distress, 13 Animal Welfare Services (AWS) charges, and multiple criminal charges.

By mid-week, with the sudden quiet, I began to wonder whether Redlick had already found another place to land — another barn to board at, another property to rent, or perhaps I should say one to squat on – because let’s face it –  how many places in the last 2.5 months have the Redlicks been evicted from for non payment?

Eventually, the person messaged me again and sent a screenshot showing that Stephanie Alessia AKA had sent her a friend request.

With a bit of digging, it became clear that this woman – who started sending messages on Sunday night –  was offering full board at a very low rate – and I came to realize that she also hauls horses, as she later told me — “for a living”.

Maybe that explained the persistence?  I was suspicious.

Was she some how connected with Redlick?  Was she planning to either board horses for the Redlicks or haul for them or…?

I continued to be honest.

The mare and foal were safe. They had been examined by a veterinarian. Fecals were done.

A nail that had been left embedded in the mare’s hoof by the last farrier had been addressed.

They were on a feeding program, and the foal — in particular — required extra nutritional support.

Maybe, even if  this person was somehow in communication with Redlick, she didn’t realize that Stephanie Redlick already knew exactly where the 2 horses the Redlicks abandoned were?

A PATTERN OF INTIMIDATION TACTICS

On the Friday night before that Sunday message, Stephanie Redlick and her father showed up at the farm where the horses are now staying.

They parked on the road outside the property and turned off their lights.

Was this an attempt to intimidate the owners of the property?

The owners confronted them, followed them, and called the police.

The police pulled the Redlicks over and spoke with them.

In rural communities, officers often know the people they serve.

In this case, they  know the farm owners, the amazing charitable work they do, and their impecable reputation.

And with Redlick’s growing list of criminal charges, it does not take long for anyone in law enforcement to know ‘what’ they are dealing with.

By Friday evening – 5 days after the intial contact with the woman who first reached out to share an ad Redlick was (is) running – my gut told me I needed clarity, so I put my phone number into the Facebook Messenger chat. The person who’d been asking questions since Sunday night took the hint and called.

During that call, she let something slip.

“I didn’t offer boarding to anyone else.”

I stopped her immediately.

I thought you said you weren’t offering her boarding — that you wanted nothing to do with her.

She had just contradicted herself.

And if I had to bet, I would say I may have stumbled onto where Redlick was hoping to land next.  Or maybe where Redlick is heading once she secures horses?

I didn’t end that call — she did.

I tried calling her back. She texted that she was on another call. She never returned mine.

The next day, I sent a general message — not a threat, just a boundary.

Anyone who knowingly offers boarding space to Stephanie Redlick, understanding who she is and what she is accused of, will be publicly identified. The same applies to anyone who knowingly hauls horses for her.

If Redlick cannot find a place to keep horses, it becomes much harder for her to acquire them.

If she cannot find anyone willing to haul for her, the same is true.

She responded that this “wasn’t fair,” explaining that hauling is how she makes her living.

What she failed to acknowledge is that many professional and part-time haulers have already reached out to say they will never haul for Redlick again.

Others have said they’ve refused her outright. Some have warned colleagues.

This woman who may have committed to board horses for Redlick, knowing full well who she is – who it appears is willing to haul for her is not the norm, she is the exception.

She also suggested that it would be better to know where the horses are — that this way they could be properly cared for.

What that argument ignores is reality.

Stephanie Redlick does not pay board or rent for barns.

She does not reliably pay farriers, those who deliver hay – or haulers.

She does not cover emergency veterinary care.

When she disappears, barn owners are left holding the bag — financially and legally.

Even when a barn is not offering full board, if horses on that property are neglected, the property owner can be held responsible and charged by Animal Welfare Services.

Feed bills, vet bills, legal fees — all of it lands on the person who believed things would somehow be different.  That maybe they could squeeze some money out of Redlick.

On Saturday, Stephanie Redlick, her father Sammy, and her mother were all present at Ontario Livestock Exchange (OLEX).

We are aware that at least one bid by Sammy Redlick was ignored by the auctioneer. The horse ultimately sold for less than his bid, yet his bid was passed over.

Did you get that?

A horse had a $200 bid, the auctioneer was asking for $300 – Sammy Redlick, Stephanie’s father was waving and trying to bid $250. The auctioneer ignored his very obvious bid and the horse sold to someone other than the Redlicks for less than what Sammy was willing to bid.

Anyone who has followed Ban Horse Slaughter for any length of time knows we have never been fans of Ontario Livestock Exchange (OLEX), given their long-standing relationship with kill buyers.

But in this instance, credit where it’s due.

Thank you to the auctioneer at OLEX.

He took a stand.  He sent a message.

That message, that a horse would be better off going to slaughter than into the hands of a known abuser and I think we can safely assume that he’s saying “We don’t want to do business with the likes of you”.]

[And yes, we do know and we are not happy to report that at least one horse bid on by the Redlicks went to a known buyer who ships horses to be slaughtered in Quebec.]

[This auction is separate and distinct from Cookstown Livestock Exchange, where Stephanie Redlick is accused of passing an altered cheque for more than $15,000.]

Stephanie Redlick has multiple upcoming court appearances:

– two jurisdictions for Animal Welfare Services charges

– thirteen counts related to sixteen seized horses

– one horse so far gone that euthanasia was the only humane option

– and two separate sets of criminal charges still before the courts

I’m not going away. Nor are others I’ve been lucky enough to lock arms with.

They know who they are, they are not looking for glory, they have contributed in many ways with more hours over the last year than anyone could ever imagine.

I will continue to track patterns, verify information, and share what can responsibly be confirmed – and again I am not alone in this.

And I want to thank every single person who has stepped forward to say:

“She was here.”

“She called me.”

“I found this ad from Redlick.”

“I saw her there.”

That collective awareness is why horses are safer today than they were last year at this time.

One final note.

The woman with Stephanie Redlick at the auction on Saturday was her mother — the same woman who was present the night a newborn foal was abandoned.

The same woman who promised to stay, to keep the foal warm and fed, in a drafty structure that was little more than a shed.

The foal was dead by morning.

So no — this has never been about just one person.

Please know and get that Stephanie Redlick and her father Sammy Redlick are out and about looking for a place to keep horses AND looking to buy or take free horses.

Please warn your family, friends and neighbours even if they don’t have horses — or what you would consider a horse property.

We’re doing our best to get the word out but since November 11th, the Redlick’s have managed to take advantage of 3 unsuspecting families – let’s stop them squatting on a 4th property.
