JULY 2026: HOW IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN?
THE HORSE IN THE PICTURE ABOVE HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED BY AWS
First – a little history when it comes to Animal Welfare Services and their dealings with Stephanie Redlick — who is currently facing multiple animal neglect related charges from 2025. (July 2026 she has not yet had her day in court.)
Animal Welfare Services (AWS) knew.
Not in February 2025.
Not after sixteen horses were removed from her so called care.
Not after Animal Welfare Services charges were laid for animal neglect.
Not after 2 sets of criminal charges in 2 jurisdictions were laid for theft and fraud.
AWS knew in December of 2024.
According to Animal Welfare Tribunal transcripts, Stephanie Redlick had already been found NON-COMPLIANT on DECEMBER 30TH, 2024 with Orders issued by Provincial Animal Welfare Services.
For those unfamiliar with the process, an Order is a legal requirement directing an owner to correct deficiencies in the care of animals. If those deficiencies are not corrected to the satisfaction of inspectors and a veterinarian, charges can be laid.
Yet 36 DAYS LATER…
FEBRUARY 4, 2025
Volunteers documented approximately twenty horses in Redlick’s care on a property in Oro-Medonte.
Some horses stood ankle-deep in manure.
Water buckets were frozen.
Horses were picking through their own manure to find something to eat.
Horses were reduced to skin and bone.
Horses had open wounds.
A foal was denied proper care and died.
Outside…
Mouldy hay with baler twine still attached.
No shelter.
No water.
Horses so thin that even those with blankets on – their protruding hip bones and spines could be seen through the blankets.
WHERE WAS ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES?
How was Redlick — already found non-compliant just weeks earlier — able to still have horses in her so-called care — in horrendous condition and living in inhumane conditions?
Four horses were relinquished to a family who stepped in and reported Redlick to (Ontario) Provincial Animal Welfare Services.
Public outrage resulted.
FINALLY WEEKS LATER
Animal Welfare Services seized sixteen horses.
One of those horses also was in such bad shape that euthanasia was the only humane option.
Another mare gave birth after seizure.
Stephanie Redlick now faces multiple animal neglect charges.
The Animal Welfare Tribunal later ruled those horses will not be returned to her.
Redlick has also been ordered to pay more than $116,000 for their care after they were removed and before the Tribunal ruled she was not to get them back.
Despite losing multiple tribunal appeals Redlick has publicly stated she has no intention of paying. Don’t take our word for that – watch the Rebel News report where she states that here.
What would have happened if volunteers had not stepped in – what would have happened if there had NOT been a public outcry?
Remember she was found non compliant with requirements to improve the well-being of horses in her care and their living conditions on December 30th, 2024. And the pictures above are from February 2025.
FAST FORWARD…
JULY 2026: AWS IS LETTING IT HAPPEN AGAIN
By late May 2026 we learned that Stephanie Redlick had quietly accumulated another ten horses.
At least four were obtained while she was using the name Marabal Martin (or variations of it).
Why the use of dozens of aliases? (<== Scroll down on that page to see the ones we know about.)
WHY? Because many people in Ontario’s horse community know exactly who Stephanie Redlick is and her reputation proceeds her, they choose to stay clear of her.
According to the owners involved, Redlick promised permanent homes.
She claimed to own 400 acres with streams and lush pasture.
She told elaborate stories involving dying children.
We have screenshots.
We have witnesses willing to speak publicly.
Instead…
Those horses ended up on a Mennonite-owned farm in Holyrood, Ontario.
Not on the property Redlick claimed to own.
The community in which the horses landed is small, a tight knit communtiy and several people came forward to fill in the blanks – every step of the way.
We are truly thankful to those who came forward.
JUNE 2026
On June 7, 2026 Redlick was trespassed from the property for non-payment of board.
She was told she could not return.
The same day four horses obtained by Marabal Martin (Stephanie Redlick) via fraudulent misrepresentation were removed for urgent veterinary attention.
Not by Redlick.
The veterinarian was not hired by Redlick.
The veterinarian was not paid by Redlick.
Poor body scores were recorded and one horse had a puncture wound on her ankle which was NOT being treated. (We have documentation, vet reports, pictures and even X-rays that were shared with Animal Welfare Services.)
Threats of criminal charges by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) pushed for by a paralegal representing Redlick followed — if those horses were not returned.
One Ontario Provincial Police officer dug in and would not back down unless the horses were returned. (Others — off the record cheered on those who removed the horses and insisted that it should have been considered a civil matter.)
A few days later the horses were – sadly – returned to the Holyrood property.
Again, we have pictures of the condition of those horses and the veterinary reports which were provided to Animal Welfare Services.
JUNE 8, 2026
Animal Welfare Services attended the property where Redlick at the time had 6 horses.
The Ontario Provincial Police attended.
As far as we know…
No Orders were written.
We feel confident that we would have been made aware by members of the community had Orders been written.
Despite the condition of the horses and the condition of the property.
Despite Redlick’s history.
No actions on the part of Animal Welfare Services were taken.
Why? GOOD QUESTION.
Throughout June the OPP reportedly attended the property several more times after Redlick and her father returned despite the trespass notice.
Animal Welfare Services also — as reported by the property owner and neighbours — attended multiple times as June came to an end.
Late in June a Belgian mare gave birth to a mule colt – the colt ultimately died.
(Sound familiar? Remind you of another newborn in the so-called care of Redlick?)
Still NO orders were issued by Animal Welfare Services.
JULY 12, 2026 – WE TOLD YOU IT WAS HAPPENING AGAIN
On July 12 an experienced horse person known to Ban Horse Slaughter visited the property.
She found one of Redlick’s horses
a Dutch Harness X Standardbred stallion
EMACIATED
standing in manure…
without hay…
without access to turnout…
without proper care.
She was appalled by the condition of other horses and the general living conditions as well.
She immediately contacted Animal Welfare Services.
Only then…
according to multiple sources…
did Animal Welfare Inspectors return with a veterinarian.
Only then according to those in the tight knit community…
were Orders finally written.
As of July 25, 2026 the horse in the picture above has not been removed by Animal Welfare Services, instead they chose to leave that horse in the care of the same person who should have never let him get in that condition — and who should have provided better living conditions.
WHY DID SOMEONE OUSIDE OF THE ‘SYSTEM’ HAVE TO REPORT THE CONDITION OF THAT HORSE AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS BY ANIMAL WEFARE SERVICES?
The most common excuse we hear from those inside of Animal Welfare Services is:
There are not enough “equine savvy inspectors”.
Hello.
As someone said to us earlier today: “Even a Kindergarten student can see that the horse is in desperate need of better care”.
AND do Inspectors not have cell phones with cameras?
Can they not take pictures to share with an equine savvy veterinarian?
THE QUEBEC CONNECTION
We also believe Stephanie Redlick has found someone in Quebec who is willing to deal with her despite knowing exactly who she is.
Earlier this summer we discovered a riding school in Quebec advertising one of Redlick’s horses for sale.
The advertisement described the mare as a 13-year-old, sound Thoroughbred.
She isn’t.
The mare was NOT in Quebec, at the time the mare was in Ontario and had a lien on her — she is a horse that was relinquished to Redlick under circumstances that were described to us by, both criminal and civil attorneys, as fraudulent misrepresentation.
This mare is a registered Thoroughbred with a lip tattoo. That tattoo proves she is 19 years old, not as the advertisement states – 13.
The advertisement also described her as sound.
She wasn’t. She isn’t. She never will be.
By the time this mare was eventually removed from Redlick’s so-called care, her body condition score had dropped to 1.3 out of 5. (It’s important to note that AWS did NOT step in and remove her.)
Thankfully, she is now safe and receiving the care she desperately needed through a fully registered not-for-profit organization.
When we first saw the advertisement, we honestly thought the owner of the riding school might simply be another victim.
So we called Alexe DeCoste of Lunaria – Services Equins par Alexe (and Mirage Equine Sales)…
We explained who Stephanie Redlick is.
We directed Alexe to media reports, including reports from CTV NEWS along with information about the Provincial Animal Welfare Services charges, and the criminal charges Redlick is facing.
She told us she already knew all about Stephanie Redlick and believed the Animal Welfare Services case was simply the result of people being jealous of Redlick’s “high-end breeding program.”
Yes, really.
Alexe DeCoste of Lunaria – Services Equins par Alexe refused to remove the advertisement – even though we had proof that the horse was NOT sound. Remember those vet reports? The horse being advertised was one of those 4 horses who were vetted after being removed from the Mennonite-owned property on June 7, 2026. Alexe refused to remove the ad even though the horse was not in Quebec and the horse had a lien on her.
Then things got even more interesting…
We were later contacted by a woman in Quebec who had sent Stephanie Redlick $2,250 for a gelding.
After sending a deposit – but before sending the balance of the funds, that woman started to feel uncomfortable and wonder if she was being scammed — she then reported to us that she received an unsolicited phone call from Alexe, the owner of the riding school — assuring her that Stephanie Redlick was a good person and could be trusted.
The money was sent.
The horse was never delivered.
Like so many others before her, she went to police.
At this point, we can NO longer simply assume that the riding school owner is an innocent victim of Stephanie Redlick.
What we can say is this:
Alexe knows who Stephanie Redlick is.
Alexe knows about the Provincial Animal Welfare Services charges.
She knows about the criminal charges Stephanie Redlick is facing.
Yet, Alexe refused to take the advertisement down and she convinced at least one alleged victim that Stephanie Redlick can be trusted.
AND NOW?
We know for a fact that Stephanie Redlick is trying to move the 6 horses still in her so-called care to Quebec.
We know she has been looking for someone willing to haul them.
The last person that we know Redlick used to haul horses has now been made aware of who she is — and his response?
“My job is to transport animals. The rest is none of my concern.”
If he chooses to haul for Stephanie Redlick again, we believe the public has a right to know that decision was made with full knowledge of her history. If he decides to haul for her again we will publish his name.
It’s also interesting to note that hauling of livestock (including horses) is regulated at the federal level by the (Canadian Food Inspection Agency).
The regulations state:
“All persons involved in the transport of animals must ensure that every animal being transported is assessed as being fit for the intended trip.”
Does that horse, locked in that stall look like he is fit to be transported from Ontario to Quebec?
The penalties? Possible criminal charges.
THE BIGGER QUESTION…
As already stated, Redlick is currently facing multiple animal neglect charges.
Yet while waiting for those charges to make their way through the courts, she has been able to acquire more horses.
Those horses have again become the subject of Animal Welfare Services investigations.
Orders have again been written.
And now those horses may simply be moved by Redlick to another province.
How does that make sense?
How many times do horses have to suffer before there are meaningful consequences?
How many times do Animal Welfare Services inspectors have to write Orders before the law says enough?
This isn’t just about Stephanie Redlick anymore.
It’s about a loophole that allows someone facing multiple neglect charges to continue acquiring horses while their case slowly works its way through the courts.
Until that loophole is closed, this won’t be the last Stephanie Redlick.
There will be another case.
And another.
And another.
The only question is how many horses and other animals will suffer before our laws finally catch up.
