THE ALICE SANCTUARY
This month the proceeds from HORSE RESCUE FUND’S current 50/50 will go to The Alice Sanctuary near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Founded in 2014, The Alice Sanctuary provides care and healing for rescued, surrendered and abandoned farm animals and is currently home to almost 300.
Many of the horses in their care are elderly and blind.
If you reside in Alberta you are able to buy 50/50 tickets in support of The Alice Sanctuary and if you do (and even if you don’t) live in Alberta, we hope you will also share our social media posts to help raise awareness about this amazing organization.

It may be hard for some to believe that tens of thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.
Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including Japan.
The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.
In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan, to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
