STEPHANIE REDLICK – NEGLECTED HORSES?

YOU BE THE JUDGE

This situation in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada highlights both the cruelty some humans are capable of and the compassion of those who choose to step up, take action and show kindness.

FEBRUARY 9, 2025: Stephanie Redlick, the owner of 13 horses, is facing allegations of neglect regarding their care.

Although she claims to provide excellent care, recent visits to the property she has been leasing in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, suggest otherwise.

We invite you to review the attached pictures and videos and form your own opinion.

One particularly distressing case involves a newborn foal who was left in a cold drafty ramshackle barn. Unable to stand, she was unable to nurse, all while enduring windchill temperatures as low as -26°C (-15°F). Tragically, the foal did not survive.  [Full story here.]

Outdoor water troughs were empty, and the water buckets inside were frozen solid.

The horses left outside were forced to eat poor-quality, mouldy hay — with the wrapping strings still attached.

Inside, there was no sign of hay at all, and visitors were even asked if they could provide some.

The “stalls” appeared to have never been cleaned, with manure piled a foot or more deep.

Horses were seen picking through their own waste in a desperate attempt to find something to eat.

Hoof care seemed completely neglected. After examining four relinquished horses, an experienced farrier suggested that some may have never had their hooves trimmed. One horse had shoes that were estimated to have been on for eight or nine months—far longer than the typical care cycle of every four to eight weeks.

The horses were severely dehydrated, dangerously thin, many with sores.

One horse, who has a hernia, was also caked in feces.

While some horses had blankets, the undercover video shows their protruding hip bones and spines were still painfully visible through the fabric.

Despite relinquishing four horses, Redlick still has 13 horses under her so-called care. Based on the condition of the animals she gave up, along with what those who have visited the property report, one can only imagine the suffering of those she continues to keep.

Dear Mr. Kerzner,

I am writing to bring urgent attention to the case of Stephanie Redlick and the welfare of the horses under her care. It has come to my attention that four horses she recently relinquished were found in a deplorable physical condition, raising serious concerns about the treatment and care they received. Additionally, there are still thirteen horses remaining in her custody, and their well-being must be thoroughly assessed to ensure they are not suffering from similar neglect.

I respectfully urge you to conduct a full investigation into this matter and take all necessary actions to hold Ms. Redlick accountable for any neglect or mistreatment. These animals deserve proper care, and their safety and health must be a priority.

Comprehensive documentation of this situation, including evidence of the horses’ condition and additional details, can be found at the following link: https://banhorseslaughter.com/stephanie-redlick.

Please take swift action to protect these animals and ensure accountability in this case. I appreciate your time and any efforts you can make to address this pressing issue.

Sincerely,

“Thoroughbred Summer Sunrise was relinquished to us by Stephanie Redlick,  his poor body condition was hidden under a ripped blanket.

He is now on 10 days of antibiotics, 30 tablets daily.

He needs to be  quarantined, and we were told by our vet that we need to prepare ourselves because he might not recover from this.”  – Summer Secord

CANADA SLAUGHTERS HORSES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

It may be hard for some to believe that thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.

Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including  Japan.

The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT  horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.

In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan,  to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
