HUMANITY FOR HORSES RESCUE

NEEDS A NEW HOME  – NOW!

UPDATE:  DECEMBER 17, 2021

Humanity for Horses is still looking for a new property to house their rescue and sanctuary operation but in the meantime their herd has been broken up into smaller groups and is being housed and cared for on mulitple properties.

Please continue to share that they are looking and please continue to keep your eyes and ears open for a property where the whole herd can be re-united.

CTV NEWS VANCOUVER ISLAND WRITES

“Humanity for Horses is a non-profit horse rescue foundation based in the Cowichan Valley.

Since its creation in 2015, the rescue agency has saved the lives of more than 600 horses.

Those horses were to be sent to auction where they would have been purchased by meat buyers to be processed for human consumption.

Now Humanity for Horses needs a little help of their own. The property the group leases is about to be put up for sale and they have been told to leave by Dec. 15.

As of now, they have nowhere to go.”

CANADA SLAUGHTERS HORSES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

It may be hard for some to believe that tens of thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.

Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including  Japan.

The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT  horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.

In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan,  to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
