UPDATE:  SEPTEMBER 13, 2023

Solstice Pecile of Wishing Stone Farm inexplicably posted horrendous videos of her dragging a horse and later laughing at the horse’s injuries.

Excerpts from an article in the Peterborough Examiner

Pecile, 23, was charged under the Animal Welfare Services Act last fall following an investigation into an unsettling video posted by Pecile after a training session with a horse in her care. [Scroll down for more details and the video.]

Pecile, who was not in court, was fined $2,500 and put on probation under the Provincial Animal Welfare Act.

She is not allowed to have custody, care or control of any horse, either directly or indirectly throughout the province of Ontario for a five-year period. She is also not to participate in any venture, operation or business of any kind in the breeding, sale, brokering, rescue, fostering, grooming, boarding, or involving import or export of any horses to or from Ontario.

According to Pecile’s counsel, she has received death threats and was forced to flee Ontario for her safety, and she has lost her means of employment.

Pecile’s counsel didn’t offer an apology on behalf of his client.

It’s important to note that the bans placed on Ms. Pecile only apply within the province of Ontario – or to the export of horses to Ontario.

It’s been rumoured that she is currently in Alberta where she would unfortunately be free to continue owning and training horses.

CANADA SLAUGHTERS HORSES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

It may be hard for some to believe that tens of thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.

Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including  Japan.

The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT  horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.

In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan,  to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
