UPDATE August 29, 2022:
The colt was left at the front gate of the owners’ farm – dead.
Retaliation?
We’re not sure, because we do NOT know all that went on with this story, but we do know that no matter what it’s not right that a horse was stolen and either not cared for well enough that it passed, or was intentionally killed.
NOTE: Horse theft does happen, PLEASE take a few minutes right now and look into what options are available in your area, should you have a horse stolen.
PLEASE have good clear, recent photos of your horses from all angles, and if there is a brand inspector in your area, have their number handy even if your horse is NOT branded.
In the wee hours of Sunday morning August 21, 2022 a 3-week-old colt was stolen from Goff Farms – between Cobalt and North Cobalt in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, Canada.
Owner Amanda Tomson is offering a reward for his safe return but as every hour passes she is worried for his survival as he can’t live much longer without his mother’s milk.
Again, this colt was left 8 days later at the front gate of the owners’ farm, dead.

CANADA SLAUGHTERS HORSES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
It may be hard for some to believe that tens of thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.
Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including Japan.
The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.
In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan, to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
