ARTIST ALLISON DAWRANT GIFTS $10,000
TO CHDC & JANN ARDEN’S #HORSESHIT CAMPAIGN
Among other causes, putting an end to the live export of horses from Canada to Japan to be slaughtered for human consumption, is a cause close to Calgary, Alberta, Canada based artist, Allison Dawrant’s heART.
Allison cares deeply about, and is also committed to, banning horse slaughter within Canada and beyond.
Allison has not only leant her voice (and social media presence) to this cause — she’s gifted a percentage of her sales totalling $10,000 — to Canadian Horse Defence Coalition to aid in their lawsuit against the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and contributed to Jann Arden’s #horseshit campaign.
In addition to her extremely generous financial gifts, Allison recently spent countless hours helping generate record setting numbers for a Member of Parliament sponsored petition.
THANK YOU ALLISON
FOR ALL YOU DO FOR SO MANY
“Art is about building connections and relationships.
If I can add a little joy & colour to the world, that inspires me.”
When I paint, I am completely present in the moment.
I have been told that my art reflects a sense of hope, peace & calm.
In, 2020, I took a leap of passion, and switched my career of over 20 years as a Registered Nurse to become a full-time artist.
I love animals and believe in creating art that gives back.
“My hope is that others, including artists will be inspired to share their success with causes that are near to their heARTs.”

CANADA SLAUGHTERS HORSES FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
It may be hard for some to believe that tens of thousands of horses, including pets, are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption.
Some of the meat is consumed in Canada and much of it is shipped to the European Union and other markets, including Japan.
The barbaric slaughter of horses is currently not legal in the United States, BUT horses, including pets and ex-racehorses, from the United States are shipped to Canada and to Mexico to be slaughtered.
In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan, to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air, is far from humane.
