TWO SPECIFIC QUICK & EASY ACTIONS

At first, it might seem strange to find a letter-writing campaign and a Member of Parliament-sponsored e-petition about a cat on a website generally dedicated to banning horse slaughter in Canada and beyond. But animal welfare is not a series of isolated causes.

Whether it is preventing horses being slaughtered or advocating for justice for a cat subjected to alleged abuse, the underlying issue is the same: animals need effective legal protection, and those responsible for cruelty must be held accountable.

Faith’s case raises serious concerns about animal cruelty, the enforcement of existing laws, and the safeguards—or lack thereof—that protect animals when they are rehomed online. These concerns extend far beyond one cat or one community.

We believe every animal deserves protection, regardless of species. That is why we are asking you to take action for Faith and call on Ontario’s elected officials to strengthen accountability, enforce the law, and address the gaps that leave vulnerable animals at risk.

Please take a moment to send the letter and sign the e-petition. Every voice matters.

P.S. Letter-writing campaigns directed at the people who have the power to bring about change are incredibly powerful. And not all petitions are created equal!

A Member of Parliament-sponsored e-petition like the one below is far more than a typical online petition.

If you live in Canada please take part in one or both of the following campaigns.

If you live in Ontario fill out the form to send the letter to Ontario’s decision-makers AND sign the e-petition.

If you live ANYWHERE in Canada please sign the e-petition.

Together, these actions help demonstrate that the public is paying attention and expects meaningful action to protect animals.

WHO WAS FAITH? (CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.)

Faith was a young cat in Niagara Falls, Ontario, whose life ended in tragic circumstances. In late September 2026, a concerned citizen rescued her from a motel residence in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Road, where she was reportedly found severely emaciated and bound and appeared to have been sexually assaulted.

Faith was taken to an animal hospital, but her condition was so poor that she had to be euthanized.

On October 5, 2026, Niagara Regional Police arrested Peter Krsul, 55, of Niagara Falls, after searching the motel room and reportedly finding materials used to bind the cat. He was charged with causing damage or injury to an animal and bestiality. The investigation followed an initial inquiry by Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS).

Faith’s story raises serious questions about how vulnerable animals are often not protected when they are rehomed, and whether existing safeguards are sufficient to prevent abuse.

We may never know everything Faith endured, but her story must not be forgotten.

We are calling for accountability in her case and meaningful protections to help prevent other animals from suffering a similar fate.

The charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

ACTION NUMBER 2 OF 2

MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT SPONSORED FEDERAL E-PETITION

OPEN TO ALL CANADIANS – THERE ARE NO AGE REQUIREMENTS

A Member of Parliament-sponsored e-petition like the one below is far more than a typical online petition.

It follows a formal parliamentary process, and once it reaches the required signature threshold, it can be presented in the House of Commons and receive an official government response.

While an e-petition does not automatically change the law, it can help bring an issue to Parliament’s attention, build public pressure, and contribute to legislative change or the introduction of new legislation.

NOTE:

1.  Anyone can sign, regardless of age. There is no minimum age requirement.
2.  After signing, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your signature. Please make sure you complete that step so your signature counts!  (It generally takes less than a minute – you may have to check your SPAM or junk folder.)

While we push for accountability, we’re also working to save lives — currently raising funds to support 4 horses in New Brunswick who would otherwise have gone to slaughter.  Every dollar raised this month will go towards their veterinary and hoof care as well as feed and bedding.  Thank YOU for your continued support.

We hear about horses almost every day in need of support...

HORSES SLAUGHTERED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION

Every year thousands of horses are routinely slaughtered in Canada, for human consumption, but you can help us ban horse slaughter in Canada and beyond.

Some of the meat is consumed in Canada, and much of it is shipped to the European Union, and other markets, including Japan.

This barbaric practice is currently not legal in the United States, so horses from the United States are shipped to Canada, and to Mexico, to be slaughtered.

In addition Canada allows for the transportation of live horses to Japan to be slaughtered for human consumption, and unfortunately the transportation of horses destined for slaughter within Canada, and by air to Japan for slaughter, is far from humane.
