5 FREEDOMS RANCH RESCUE AND REHABILITATION SOCIETY
Bev Wilson founded 5 Freedoms Ranch Rescue and Rehabilitation Society 10 years ago.
Located in Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada 5 Freedoms currently has 90 horses, donkeys and mules in their care.
5 Freedoms takes in surrendered animals and works directly with the City of Edmonton to care for seized livestock.
5 Freedoms also outbids meat buyers AKA kill buyers at auction, saving horses who would otherwise go to be slaughtered for human consumption.

WHY IS THE RESCUE CALLED 5 FREEDOMS?
Bev Wilson believes:
All animals should live by the 5 Freedoms..
- Freedom from Hunger and Thirst
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom from Pain injury or disease
- Freedom to express Normal Behaviours
- Freedom from Fear and Distress

5 FREEDOMS RESCUE FOUNDER BEV WILSON
The summer of 2021 was an extremely dry one for the province of Alberta, and as a result hay prices went up dramatically.
5 Freedoms was paying $70 for a big round bale of hay and are now having to pay $220.
Currently their weekly hay bill is $5,000.
In addition to the 90 equines in their care, Bev is fielding calls from those needing to relinquish their horses because of the high cost of hay.
